One small step

I made an appointment today with my family doctor to get my thyroid checked and discuss my anxiety issues. I've been putting this off for too long. I hope he has some insight into how to get things under control. I need to get myself stabalized before I head to Nebraska with the kids for a month and a half. I want to feel like myself again.

7 Month Well Baby Check Up

The stats:
15 lb 11 oz - 10%
27.25 inches long - 50%

Sawyer is consistent on his growth curve. He's just a peanut. He's 3 pounds lighter than Olivia and Paxton were at his age. His pediatrician is concerned that he is refusing all solids and will only drink breast milk. He suggested having someone else keep Sawyer for 24 hours and have them offer the food. Seems a little drastic to me at this point. The ped said if Sawyer doesn't start eating within the next month he may need therapy. Only my kid would need therapy to learn to eat. The ped also says his size may be causing his fussiness. Small size means less hormones and chemicals in his body which means slower development; therefore, he asks more like a 5 month old than a 7 month old. Sounds like a good theory to me. The ped also said it looks like Sawyer's 4 bottom teeth are all coming through at about the same time and they are close to the surface. That could explain a lot of the fussiness and the constant chewing on everything in site.

I went ahead and had Sawyer get his first vaccine - DTaP. I never in my life thought I would be a delayed/selective vaccinator. After much research, I'm doing what feels right for Sawyer, our family and our community. Luckily the ped is supportive of us vaxing on our own schedule. I'll probably do one vaccine a month which was fine with the doctor. He also wants me to bring Sawyer back at 9 months to see how he is developing. Hopefully all is well and Sawyer is just a slow sprouter.

Rude things people say

I've been wanting to get my hair cut. Sawyer likes to pull on it and eat it so I end up keeping it pulled back. I was in town for an appointment today and Jody was finished at work so I sent him home with the kids, and I went to get my haircut. This is the first time he's kept all three kids, but I assured him his mom was home to help out. I figured that between the two of them, they would be ok. Sawyer got fussy while I was gone because he was hungry, but he wouldn't take a bottle. It turns out he didn't like the nipple, but that's not the point of my story. While Jody and MIL were dealing with Sawyer, MIL tells him she can't believe he hasn't gotten snipped yet. WTH is that supposed to mean?! Like it's any of her business how many children we choose to have! It's not the first time she's made a comment like that, and it really irks me.

Loose Tooth

Olivia has her first loose tooth. She is insanely excited, and I am secretly sad. My baby girl is growing up too fast! Just this morning Olivia asked me when she was going to have a loose tooth. She is jealous that her friend has already lost a few teeth. Her first question when she found out it was loose was "How much will the tooth fairy bring?" Then she mentioned hearing it was something like five dollars. That girl is always looking to make some money. She has a lot of her father's blood in her.

What Kind of Shoe Are You?

You Are Cowboy Boots

This doesn't mean you're country, just funky.

You've got a ton of attitude and confidence.

You're unique, expressive, and even a little bit wacky.

You are straight shooting and honest. You tell people how it is.

Low maintenance and free wheeling, you're always up for an adventure.

You should live: Where you can at least get to wide open spaces

There is a perk to having your garden right outside your door. I can randomly go out and look at it throughout the day. I can't believe how fast the plants grow. I love that I can go out and weed it for the few minutes that Sawyer is happy. I need to pick up some more squash and cucumber seeds. Most of the ones I planted didn't come up. That's what I get for buying the Wal-Mart brand.

I had my hopes set on getting my hair cut tomorrow. I even had a sitter arranged for the kids. My hairdresser didn't have any morning apparents though. So now I have to wait. Sometimes I think about finding a new hairdresser but I would feel like I am cheating on the one I have. I've used her for several years. Is that weird? Should I care?
*********************************
Jody said I seem like I am more burned out after having Sawyer. It makes me sad. I've really struggled this time- both emotionally and physically. Sometimes I am just tired. I know part of the problem is a lack of intimacy, but it is hard to be intimate when all the intimate parts of my body hurt. I am so lucky to be married to such a patient man. I only hope he knows how much I love him.

I did some more bargain shopping at Kroger yesterday. Can I just tell you how much fun it is! It's a total addiction. I'm already set up for my next trip to the store. I found out about some new eSaver coupons, and I can't wait to try them out.
*********************************
Sawyer slept so well last night. He got up twice to eat and went right back to sleep. No fussing. It was wonderful. I'm hoping for a repeat tonight. I could use the sleep.
